Content strategy and planning

We create content to create strong relationships. Our content needs to stand out and speak to our audiences.

In this session, and the slides below, we tackled how content can be strategised and planned over time for high engagement.

Engaging hearts and minds

Creating powerful content that engages your audiences and helps them make decisions has a lot to do with emotions. How we understand and contextualise our experience of the world is based on our feelings about what we think is right and wrong, appropriate, non-appropriate, scary, enjoyable, and so on.

Our feelings don’t just float around though – to make sense of our world, as cultural, social humans, we organise and contextualise our feelings with structure, associations and perspectives. Part of how we make sense of the world is with our values. And these are just one element in the complex and often shifting relationship we have with ourselves and the world around us.

What we show to others may not be what we always feel about a situation and our feelings guide our decision-making.

What does this mean for our content strategy?

By tapping into some of these feelings, what sits below the surface, we can inspire our supporters and collaborators to join us on a journey of positive change.

Also important is planning. We all work according to our own schedules and timelines when producing content, but it’s useful to look at ways in which you can make your content pipeline move more smoothly. This helps you put your ideas into practice and gives you time to invest in your creativity!
